Happy Easter!!

Yes!! There it is!

 

 

This afternoon Becca's aunt and uncle from Atlanta showed up. It is such a rarity for us to have family or company on Easter, so this was definitely a special treat. And it gave me an excuse to cook a big Easter dinner.

 

I have to confess that this year, I completely dropped the ball and didn't notify the Easter bunny to stop by our house. But my aunt totally came through for him and brought fun gifts. And she set up an egg hunt in the living room

 

 

 

March 30

A busy Easter eve!

 

We started our morning with an Easter egg hunt at our church's other campus. It was a bit chilly, but with 3 giant inflatables to keep the kids in motion, they didn't notice

And, they're off! They divided the field of eggs into a section of birth to 3 yr olds and 4 and up. There were about 5 kids in the field with our boys and hundreds of eggs. G & N had no problem filling their baskets to the top!

 



 

Uh oh! If you get too excited sometimes the eggs jump out of your bucket

 

Success! And they're all filled with candy!

After this event was over, we raced home, ate lunch as fast as we could, emptied the buckets, and ran (literally) back to our neighborhood park for our first neighborhood event. The little kids had eggs to "find" on the tennis court. Again, not a big challenge

 



 

Look who showed up at this Easter egg hunt! And guess who was apprehensive to even look at him! Both boys!! So, Adam convinced them that the Easter bunny would love it if they shared one of their eggs with him. Neylan thought that was a good idea and cautiously went over to share.

 

Since the bunny didn't bite or attack, Grayson found the courage to do the same

 

And then we convinced them to turn around and smile!

 

What a fun morning and afternoon! We now have enough candy to last until Halloween!

March 29

Fridays are commonly known as "boy day" around our house. Though, it's usually not a day, it's more like  "boy morning". Adam usually takes the boys to school on Friday mornings and before he drops them off, they go to the donut shop. But today, they boys didn't have to go to school. Their daycare provider had to take the day off. So, Adam took the boys to the zoo. And then to OK Joes. NOT FAIR!!

 

March 28

This morning we had an Easter playdate with some friends. After the kids played, we told the Easter story and helped the kids make Resurrection rolls.

 

 

This afternoon was so pretty we went to the park at the school. Adam taught Grayson how to go down the pole.

March 27

Today, the boys helped their daycare provider celebrate her birthday. We went shopping early this morning to pick out some flowers and a balloon. When she opened the door, Grayson sang "Happy Birthday" to her. It was awesome! She deserves so much more than this for putting up with us for nearly 4 years! We love her and have been so blessed to have her involved in our kids lives.

 

March 26

The boys asked to paint their birdhouses tonight. The fun only lasted a few minutes, so I'm hoping they ask to paint some more another day or they will have a couple of very bare birdhouses.

 

March 25

I haven't posted about gymnastics recently, so I decided to take my camera today. It just so happened to be skills drill testing today. They do this about every 6 weeks to see how the kids skills are progressing. Grayson did a great job. We should get an email with the official results soon.

 

March 24

Well, our glimmer of spring was short lived! We are at home this morning because we have 6.5 more inches of snow on the ground. Adam had to go to church this morning, but after I found out he had to get there with his 4 wheel drive, I wasn't about to venture out with the boys by myself.

 

So, we put together and played with a new train set,

 

 

admired the beautiful winter scene,

 

got a little creative with breakfast,

 

 

played outside,

 

Grayson to Neylan: "Hey Neylan, let's hug in the snow!"

 

Mommy: "Great idea!" (I'm so glad I have my camera ready)

 

and made a pirate sail for Grayon's room!

(When I get his room cleaned, I'll take more pictures to show off the whole theme)

 

 

 

It's taken us a little while to get used to having Adam back around at night, but the boys are slowly warming back up to him (thankfully!)

 

 

 



March 23

The boys got to open a special package they received today! An Easter box from Mimi and Papa!!

March 21

This morning we had friends over to play and make another Easter craft.

 

We started with shaving cream and food coloring

 

 

and ended up with these pretty marbled eggs!

 

and then the kids had a free-for-all in the shaving cream with cars

March 20

Earlier this week the boys helped me hang a bunch of pictures on the walls. Yes, we are slowly settling in and getting decorated.

We hung a few others as well. Boy, do I feel accomplished when I get something on the walls. I put it off for so long, but it really doesn't take that long and looks so much better when it's done.

March 19

Tonight we are hosting 2 international students from the Univ of Arkansas. One guy from Panama and another guy from Indonesia. So, Grayson got to camp out in our room in his new sleeping bag.

March 18

We started some Easter crafts this morning.

 

 

Our little bunnies turned out so cute. The only way we can tell them apart is their eyes. Neylan's bunny has black eyes and Grayson's has brown.

 

This afternoon (yes, we're still in our jammies) Grayson asked to play Bananagrams. Now, just how do you simplify a game like Bananagrams for a 3 year old who does not even recognize all of his letters yet?! We didn't last long (thank goodness).
