The Grayson Tour Begins!
Did we pack enough stuff? Surely we will manage for a few weeks with everything we are bringing. Packing with a baby requires you to take everything in the house, whether you need it or not.

Our first stop on this tour was in Lexington, KY to visit Carrie, Becca's cousin, Andy, Lauren, and baby Asher (expected Aug. 15th).

Grayson met Uncle Jason, Adam's brother. Not sure what he thinks since he is sticking his tongue out

Great Aunt Sissy, Adam's aunt, and Grayson bonded instantly

Great Uncle Ralph, Adam's uncle, got his chance to hold Grayson at dinner. Grayson looks a little nervous, and for good reason!

Nan and Kasey got their turn next. Grayson is excited to sing, shop, and look for penguins with them when he gets a little bigger.

Uncle Ben and Aunt Bekah were the last to meet him today. Ben wore Grayson's favorite color shirt for their special meeting. I think Grayson was a little nervous by the look of those eyes.

A big day for Grayson. He had his first set of shots and then took off immediately for TN. He slept for the 6.5 hour drive as long as we were going over 60 mph consistently. Stop lights are not his favorite we found out.

Grayson's first night in a hotel. After a dose and a half of tylenol (oops!) he was in a great mood and played for a while before going to bed.

Update: Grayson had a good report at the doctor today. He now weighs 9 lbs 11 oz (+3 lbs since birth) and is 22" long (+4 inches). He's getting so big!

July 21, 2009

Grayson's friend Elise came over to bring him a swing for his big trip

Grayson showed off for Elise's mom, Teri, by having his first blowout!! Quite impressive. Hope these incidents are few and far between.

Addison, the little girl we sponsor in China, received her birthday package we sent. We got her the dress and hairbow she is wearing, the musical ring stacker, a puzzle, and some party blowers. The kids love getting packages for special occasions

Don't even think about taking away my pacifier. I may be asleep, but I know what you might be up to. I'll need it later, believe me.

All the dads and new babies were at volleyball tonight, so we grabbed a picture. Ray with baby James, born May 20th, and Benjamin, Adam and Grayson, born June 10th, and Seth with Lyndon and baby Mason, born June 15th.

July 18, 2009

We spent the morning at Deana Rose Farmstead with the Maynards. The weather was beautiful. Grayson was less than impressed with all the animals and slept through most of the outing. He will really enjoy this place when he is a little older. Benjamin had a good time.

July 17, 2009

We went to a Mexican Fiesta tonight at church for a couple leaving for the mission field to be missionaries in Mexico. We also got to see Catherine and baby James for the first time in several weeks after their trip to TN.

Calming tip #2: Take a warm bath. Grayson has really begun to enjoy bath time and calms down in the warm water. We allow him to stay in and play until he poops!!!

By the way, Juliet got us the bath tub and he loves it!!!!

Our visitors today were Adrianne and Benjamin, great friends from church. Benjamin wasn't too interested in Grayson, but said "baby" a lot. Thanks for the soup!

July 14, 2009

More visitors today. Steph and Teagan came by for lunch. We are so grateful for their friendship because Teagan, now a year old, has passed down ALL of his cute clothes for Grayson to wear. Steph also let Mommy borrow all of her maternity clothes.

Daddy's project for the day: trimming all the trees. He went a little crazy with the trimmers and now we have enough branches in the driveway for another tree.
Grayson is beginning to play well by himself on his play mat. He is batting at the hanging objects and pushing his ball around. He is also tolerating tummy time for about 5 minutes at a time. He was working so hard today, he kicked a sock off.

July 12, 2009

Mommy's project for the day: 2 loads of baby clothes, blankets, and towels. They did get washed and dried, but the basket still looked like this Monday morning. Everything takes much more time to get done now.

July 11, 2009

Grayson went to his first baseball game tonight with Mitch and Nicole. The T-Bones are KC's minor league baseball team. The weather was beautiful, the crowd was large, and the win was BIG!!

The score in the 3rd inning was already 10-0, T-Bones. The final score was 13-0. Needless to say it wasn't a very competive game to watch.

Mitch was so excited about the loaded waffle fries. He's been searching the country for the past 7 years to find them again, and finally, at the T-Bones game they were reunited!!!

Wedding Day!!! Grayson did awesome today. It was a very long day for all of us. I had to finish the flowers, get the to the church by 3:00 (which didn't happen), wedding at 6, then we partied at the reception until after 11 before we drove an hour to get home. So, since Grayson did so well through all of that, Adam rewarded him with a dance with the bride during the dollar dance. We'll have to tell him about it later since he slept through it.

The bride's bouquet

The bridesmaid bouquet

Amidst all the chaos of the day, it is Grayson's 1 month birthday. We can't believe he's been here a month already. He has grown a lot and is changing everyday, although he still looks quite small in this chair. He has been such a blessing.

He's wearing his new outfit he got for the wedding.

July 9, 2009

I HAD to start working on these flowers, so while Adam tutored and Grayson refused to be put down, I worked with Grayson in the sling. He fell asleep fairly quickly and then allowed me to put him in his swing to finish his nap.

Adam models one of the bridesmaid bouquets

He began to panic and really stress out that I would not get everything done, so he volunteered his flower arranging skills and helped me work on corsages until 12:30 Thursday night. Tomorrow is the big day. I hope we finish in time.

July 8, 2009

We picked up all the fresh flowers today for the wedding. There are a ton, so I am beginning to feel a little overwhelmed and don't know where to start. I was going to start working tonight, but I think I'll just wait until tomorrow. Maybe I'll have a better handle of the situation and more creativity by then.

July 7, 2009

Tonight was Megan's bachelorette party on the Plaza. We had dinner at Cheesecake Factory and then ran around the Plaza on a scavenger hunt. After 30 minutes, we met at the big fountain to show off all we had collected and to see who won. I believe Megan's team LOST!

July 6, 2009

Wedding week begins for our friend Megan. She has asked me to be her florist and out of pure optimism and prego brain, I agreed to do this for her with a 4 week old. This is the centerpiece for the buffet table and since it is not real, could be done in advance.

Happy 2nd Birthday Addison!! Addison is a little girl we began sponsoring in December after meeting her last August while on our visit to China. She lives in a wonderful foster home that does amazing things for kids with disabilities while waiting to be adopted. We think she is the cutest thing ever (besides our own little one). I will add more pics when she receives and opens our gift for her.

July 4, 2009

We had a pretty lazy, uneventful holiday. Adam and Grayson got in a good nap.

I have taken on the task of making all the flowers for a wedding on Friday. I finished all of the pew wreaths today, which was a great feeling. The big challenge will begin Wednesday when the fresh flowers arrive. I will keep you posted.

July 3, 2009

Grayson attended his first Fourth of July BBQ with friends. He was immediately greeted by Elise who was quite fascinated by him. Shortly after, he became upset during his diaper change, peed in his face and on the carpet, and had to be changed out of his only outfit with red, white, and blue in it.

Elise and Elim work together to play washers. They really wanted to be involved in all the adult games.

We recently had pictures taken for Father's Day at the Picture People. They were so good, they put them up on display. Grayson is now famous. You can see some other pics at this website. Our password to view the pictures is foster521. Enjoy!!!

We used our calming tip again. This kid loves to be outside and in the sun. He even gets fussy when he is moved back to the shade. Since he can't be in the sun and wear sunscreen, we have to keep him in the shade most of the time. He calmed down and sat in his bouncy seat for a while under the tree in our backyard. What will we do in the winter?

June 30, 2009

Our visitors today are friends from Becca's work and brought us lunch. Lucy is expecting a baby brother in a few weeks, so she wanted to get in some practice. She did a great job and Grayson fell asleep in her arms.

June 29, 2009

Calming Tip #1- Set your baby outside in the sun. He will stop crying immediately.
